Heart of the Director
Opening Act is a step in the process of bringing a dream into reality. My heart's desire is to see students grow in confidence, commitment and communication skills. My hope is that the students who participate in the group will feel encouraged to open up their heart and mind to the wonderful individual they are created to be. In turn, they will be empowered to communicate that message to others as well.
My back ground in dramatic art has included both participation and leadership. As a young person, I was on a few drama teams that performed in schools, churches, cafes, and open air, street venues. My formal education has included a year in the University of Windsor's Drama in Education program, a BTh specialising in youth ministry, a BA and a BEd. During that time I have worked with several drama teams, including two overseas trips, to perform in churches and schools. I have also directed some major theater productions including two Christmas children's plays, a student production of The Gospel According to Scrooge, an Easter production, and a recent rendition of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe.
I believe that dramatic art is a powerful tool for communicating a positive and powerful message to others. Through Opening Act Student Theater Company, I hope hearts will be open to giving and receiving that message.
